TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT DISORDER (TMD) is a condition that affects the muscles, fascia and joints in the jaw, causing pain, stiffness, amongst other symptoms. TMD is second to back pain as a debilitating pain condition and treatment options given by healthcare providers can be limited to pain killers, physio exercises and botox (to paralyse the jaw muscles).
TMD can be caused by a variety of factors, including dental work, injury, arthritis, teeth grinding, and stress and there is often corresponding tension in the neck and shoulders, which can be overlooked by other healthcare professionals, but fundamental at addressing to help achieve a longer lasting effect.
Our TMD treatment takes a 'whole'istic approach and like all muscles in the body, TMD can be treated effectively with the right techniques, which involves specific myofascial release techniques, trigger point therapy and intra-oral work, addressing the underlying causes and the therapists will work with you to help improve symptoms.
TMD treatment is available with Zuzana and Katerina.
